Paddick up first giving a speach. Opens on crime. Slightly hesitate in his speaking. Not as assured as 7/7.
He doesn't drive.
Attaking Ken on his record, attacking Boris on his lack of record.
Not that inspiring.
Ken's up now. Looks very relaxed. "London has now caught up or overtaken New York". Talking about transport and climate change.
More policy than Brian. Housing, youth work.
Paxo asked why he said he'd only do one term in 2000. Ken says he's changed his mind and Mayor of London is the last job in politics he'll do.
Boris. Nice line on Venezuela, jibe at Ken.
Talking about his garden protection plan. His new pet project.
Talking about his tube unions grand bargain policy.
Increase transport police.
Remove minor crime (like Guiliani's zero tollerance policy)
more police on the beat
"change and fresh thinking for london"
Paxo brings up to Boris about his "picannies" and "water melon smiles" comments.
Urggh. Rank "politics of division to politics of unity" Obama-eque shit
Three way debate
Boris will "grind up an ID card and put it on his kids cornflakes". He will reject it like Clegg.
Ken doesn't know who's funding his campaign.
Update 1:
Paddick asks Boris how many people he managed at the Spectator
Boris: is mumbling about competence. Tries to call Ken "kenneth". Very wierd.
Boris just looked silly over metronet.
Ken is looking very assured so far.
Ken gives the guarantee that cars below the poluting level will not have to pay any increase in the congestion charge. If he breaks his word he'll resign.
"Ordinary cars will remain at £8"
Paxo to Boris: "are you in favour of the western extension?"
Boris won't give an answer. He doesn't think its working. He will consult and "abide by what the people say".
Brian will abolish because 2/3 of people living in the western extension are against it. Boris looks weeker than Brian on this issue.
Paxo to brian: "are you in favour of the new £25 charge on gas guzzlers?"
Brian dislikes the overall package due to the exemptions for small cars.
Boris agrees and gives some good quotes for why its environmentally useless.
Update 2:
Paxo is attacking Ken on bendy buses. Boris weighs in.
Boris still needs to speak a bit clearer. Paxo is pushing him on costs. Boris doesn't appear to know his numbers on his replacement policy for bendy buses. Paxo won't let it go. "Boris give us a figure".
Boris is badly prepared on the bendy buses which is his "core policy".
Brian wants new tram lines. "They are cheaper over a ten year period and can be carbon neutral".
Paxo: "should the Olympic bill be footed by londoners or the whole nation?"
They all say the whole nation.
Paxo: "canabis reclasified?"
Boris thinks it should be made tougher. To Paxman "its very different from the stuff we used to smoke Jeremy".
Paxo: "2nd preference vote"
Boris: no answer
Ken: green party obviously but between Brian and Boris its cleary Brian
Brian: not made up my mind. "Between a rock and a hard place" with Ken and Boris.
Update 3:
Boris will remove police bureaucracy.
Brian will chair the met police authority. Get the public on the side of the police who will then help the police to end crime. Trust in the police. The police and the public standing side by side to counter gun and knife crime.
Appears to be over. Oh.
A no score draw all way round I think. Too short. Too loud. Too insubstantial to be an informative debate. Shame.
