Louisiana Governor, possible running mate for John McCain (9.2 on Betfair), and "future of the GOP", Bobby Jindal has signed a new law (State Senate Bill 144 if you wanna look it up) which calls for the compulsory chemical castration of sex offenders, on the first offense. Now I'm not sure what qualifies you to be a sex offender in Louisiana but I'm pretty sure I'd be one having had sex with those under 18. Now I've just admitted to being a multiple offender, so straight to the castration room 101 for me. But what about the first time offender? The dreadful drunken mistake that should be punished. But castration? Really? The debate, from what I could find, surrounding the bill appeared to be about child rapists, however, the bill covers far more than just those repugnant people. All first time sex offenders will be chemically castrated. Surely this counts as a "cruel and unusual punishment".
The State is castrating people. I find that pretty scary.

If you'd ever been to Louisiana you'd agree that we should castrate as many of them as possible.
